Newsletter

It's been a busy time here at About Town Dog Studio, and we have been excited to see our customer base grow substantially over the past year. We know you have a choice in this industry. We are pleased to see so many long-term customers who appreciate the skill of our team, and the quality of care that we provide to your pets.

Grooming Tip #1: Clips vary depending on the season

Colder Weather:

As it gets colder, you may want to keep your dog's coat longer. To maintain coat health and length, regular brushing is vital. We can assist you with our Wash & Tidy service which includes washing, full-coat grooming, face, feet & groin tidy, nail clipping and ear cleaning. For an additional charge, you can spoil your dog with an aromatherapy treatment.

Warmer Weather:

In Adelaide we enjoy long periods of warm weather which can have an impact on your pet if they are not regularly groomed. Your dog will continually seek cooler areas such as tiled floors, and bathrooms. This is a clear sign they are overdue for a clip to keep them cool. We can provide a range of different clips at various lengths. Just speak to one of our friendly staff to discuss the options available for your pet. Keeping your pet comfortable during the hot weather doesn't mean they have to be bald!

Finding us:

Our Blackwood salon is located in the Blackwood Plaza at 170 Main Road - opposite our good friends at Rubens Pet Food & Accessories. We have chosen a location with plenty of pet-friendly parking available, set well off the road in the back corner of the plaza.

Blackwood is open by appointment only.  Please remember when booking to let us know that you would like to book in to the Blackwood studio as all bookings are made via our central booking number:

1300 735 597

For our customers in the Northern suburbs, our Paradise studio at 723 Lower North East Road (opposite Paradise Motors) is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday by appointment. We are part of a group of shops set slightly back off the road with plenty of parking available. This is safer for the coming and going of you and your pet.

Grooming Tip #2: What to look for when selecting a grooming studio

Selecting a pet groomer is just as important as selecting your own hairdresser. You should be able to communicate with your groomer, and trust that they understand your specific instructions. Important questions your groomer should ask you include:

  • Does your animal have any allergies or skin conditions that we should be aware of?
  • Is your pet vaccinated?
  • Are there any special medical considerations for your pet? (eg. moles, lumps & bumps, heart conditions etc.)

Always check for cleanliness where the animals are groomed. If it's not well maintained, chances are your pet won't be either.

The caring staff at About Town Dog Studio are proud of our standards in grooming and with our hygienic, modern facilities. Speak to us if you would like to know more.

Please remember to book well in advance for special occasions such as Christmas and Easter to avoid disappointment, as we are always extremely busy at these times.
What our customers are saying:

A huge thankyou to the beautiful girls who worked so hard and so amazingly skillfully on Lolly our little poodle. She tip-toed out looking so very special. While I was waiting for you to complete her I just heard how beautifully you spoke to her and how patient and kind you were with her. I promise we shall do lots of touching her feet and lots more stroking her nose and praising her (we do but we obviously need to do a lot more and it will help your time with her.)

Kind Wishes,

Elizabeth

Looking Forward:

Next time you visit, why not try our forward-booking system to help you to remember when it's time to come back for a clip or wash. If you would like to take advantage of this service, just let us know how regularly you would like to visit and we will call you a couple of days in advance to remind you of your next appointment. This service helps to make life easy by taking away the need for you to remember when you have booked your visit.
